Peace of Mind

There has been some worrying publicity recently about "holiday villa scams". Apparently some people have been advertising villas for rent that they don't own, or that don't even exist. The BBC published a video clip in October 2010, and the Daily Telegraph had an article in June 2011.

Unfortunately, there are too many criminals in the world, but we cannot let them rule our lives. We must take the relevant precautions and carry on our lives the way we want to. Renting a villa direct from the owner has many advantages for both parties, but it seems that these days you do need to take precautions, so we decided to write a page to address any concerns you might have.

We have been advertising on French Connections and Holiday France Direct (owned by Brittany Ferries) since 2007. Both of those companies carried out identity checks before accepting our advertisement. Our page on French Connections shows "Advertising since September 2007".

For our own protection, we are reluctant to publish too much personal information on the internet, however, we will gladly provide any reassurance you need. Our primary security mechanism uses the post to verify each other's addresses: You post us a booking form, and we post you our signed acknowledgement.

In practice, most of our guests have questions to ask before booking, and although we don't publish a phone number on the site, we are more than happy to talk to you on the phone. Please don't be at all embarrassed to discuss any concerns with us. In this age of scams, it is only sensible.
