The Beach

If you want to learn how to surf or body board, then this is the place for you!

Every year thousands of surfers, including world champions, come to Mimizan and our other Atlantic beaches. Why not join them? There's a huge thrill in catching a wave and riding it all the way to the shore. Mimizan has surf schools for everyone, from novices and children right up to experts, so there's no excuse. Get down here and catch that perfect wave! Don't have a board? No problem, you can hire one from the schools or buy one in the shops. There's even a factory where you can learn to make your own!

Here on the Atlantic, the waves can be wild on windy days. This is when the expert surfers come out and the rest of us watch the show! Some days, it's flat and calm, but on a typical day the waves are just right, and great fun for all the family to play in. All the beaches are manned by lifeguards which makes them safe and a great place for families and children - of all ages. Body-boarding is very popular here, and is easy to master but almost as thrilling as real surfing. If waves really aren't your thing, we have miles of pure golden sand that stretch farther than you can walk so go and explore, play ball games, or just put up a parasol and get into some serious chilling!

And when you have had enough and want a break from the sea, then Mimizan Plage has everything you could want. Shops, cafes, restaurants, creperies... The hard part will be choosing which one to try, but then there is always tomorrow!

To get down there from Les Arbres and start enjoying yourself, you can take the car or cycle. It's about a 10 minute drive and there's plenty of parking. Or if you cycle, there are 2 cycle tracks: The first starts from about 100 metres from the villa and wends it way through the forest directly to the North Beach. Or you can pick up the south track about 5 minutes from the villa and it takes you directly to the South Beach. Both rides will take about 20 minutes.

So imagine yourself in those waves, or on that beach, and come to Les Arbres!
